 Tond started out when Glorious Czar Nathan and Noah decided to release a split with Noah's black metal and Nathan's neofolk. During the recording process, Noah asked Nathan if he would consider starting a band combining their music together.

Tond is one of the extraterrestrial places in the Cthulhu Mythos.
