Drauggard means "The Domain of Undead" in ancient Icelandic. The band appeared to be the first act of local Nizhny Novgorod metal scene to perform black metal.
Draugr (singular) or Draugar (plural) is an Icelandic word for a living dead having some features common to wraiths who is haunting back from time to time afterlife to accomplish what he or she could not complete during his or her lifetime. An obsessive apparition of various shapes. Dead thoughts. Stillborn dreams. The Sun... a shadow... the hunger... the winter... the End and the Beginning. Eturnal return.

Drauggard is a hard touring Russian-Austrian band with numerous shows made in towns of Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Netherlands, Belarus, Czech Republic and Italy. Established in 2003 in the city of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, the band has been patiently progressing towards its own style that is a premium blend of various genres of metal with a considerable portion of Black Metal music in the main, both lyrically and musically. The metaphoric lyrics of Drauggard refers to Scandinavian myths and sagas viewed in the contemporary perspective.
